Vitamin deficiency report
Hi, I recently received my blood test results and noticed two deficiencies: Vitamin D: 6.56 ng/mL Folate: 3 ng/mL Could you please advise me on the appropriate dosage and treatment plan for correcting these levels? I'm unable to attach the report but I can provide more information as required. Thanks.

Good day to you I understand the reason for your concern and it's good to know that you are vigilant and give utmost importance to your health Vit D is a very common deficiency and can cause rickets in childhood which can manifest with knock knees, bow legs other skeletal deformities in adults It also has anti inflammatory benefit and hence it's deficiency can act as a risk factor for other diseases As you are in the young age group spectrum, it will not cause much discomfort And you can go for prophylactic dosages however be sure to consult your physician as vit d improper dosage can lead to toxicity which can manifest as symptoms which often lead to improper diagnosis If you feel I can be of better service to you Feel free to book a one to one consultation via practo or you can even pursue via WhatsApp Plus nine one nine three zero seven six two five one four two One time consultation fee = Rs 200 Follow up consultation= Rs 100 Hope this advice provides you the much needed insight Wishing you a speedy recovery

Only on the stated value it looks like severe vit D deficiency which needs to addressed soon , and on the folate levels it needs to be correlated clinically depending upon the signs and symptoms you are having the treatment course will be defined. This doesn't only be treated with medication but needs lifestyle and diet modification also to avoid future problems and complications
Next Steps
needs additional history and evaluation for the same for establishing a proper plan and needs
Health Tips
consult me on the practo app for the detailed plan

Treatment Plan Treatment depends on how low your Vitamin D is, and as it is falling in low range High-dose weekly therapy (if levels are very low): Vitamin D3 60,000 IU Take one sachet/tablet once a week after meals For 6–8 weeks Maintenance therapy (after correction or if mild deficiency): Vitamin D3 1,000–2,000 IU daily OR 60,000 IU once a month Important: Take it after food for better absorption Sunlight Exposure Natural sunlight helps boost Vitamin D. Sit in morning sunlight (8–10 AM) 10–20 minutes, 4–5 days a week Expose arms and legs if possible; sitting behind glass does not work. Diet Recommendations Include Vitamin D–rich foods: • Egg yolk • Fish (salmon, tuna, sardines) • Fortified milk, curd, cheese • Fortified cereals • Mushrooms • Ghee/butter in moderation Diet alone usually cannot correct deficiency, but supports treatment. Lifestyle Tips Regular mild exercise helps strengthen bones and muscles Avoid excessive alcohol and smoking Ensure adequate calcium intake (foods or supplements if advised) Safety and When to Report Stop or consult your doctor if you experience: Persistent vomiting Severe constipation Excessive thirst or urination Confusion (rare, signs of high calcium) These are rare but important. Follow-Up Recheck Vitamin D levels after 8–12 weeks of treatment Continue maintenance dose long-term if you have indoor lifestyle, darker skin tone, or limited sunlight exposure
Health Tips
Take it with fat rich foods for better absoorption
