While administering tetanus toxoid vaccine(bett) to a person, I accidentally cut myself from the Tetanus Toxoid glass ampoule in my fingers. Cleaned the wound in running water & applied betadine solution to it.
My previous Tetanus Toxoid vaccination history -

I have been cut 2-3 instances in last 1 year but due to past immunization I have not taken any booster.
But do I need to take another shot of T.T this time?? Kindly tell me.
Thank you.

As For this particular wound, you don't need any tetanus injection at this time.
For adults, a tetanus booster is generally recommended every 10 years. However, if you experience a wound that's at high risk of infection, a booster might be needed sooner if your last dose was over five years ago.
If a person has received a TT booster within the past 5–10 years, another booster is not usually required for minor clean wounds.
• Since the last TT shot was in October 2023 (about 7 months ago), no additional TT booster is needed now, assuming the wound is:
• Clean and minor
• Not contaminated with soil, rust, or feces
Next Steps
• Keep the wound clean and watch for signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus, pain).
• No need for a TT booster at this time unless the wound becomes infected or there’s a risk of contamination (consult a doctor if that occurs).
Last is on 25/10/23
So u r safe up till 25/ 10/ 24.approx in India.
Immunization program for tt
Two doses at the interval of one month, 3rd dose at six months. Protect u one year.
So u need Tt if injured in road accident, rusty metal injury, paper cut, etc.
