Swelling and pain at one leg knee joint
Swelling and pain at one leg knee joint and surrounding areas from past two weeks. No fever. Constipation issues now and then. Uric acid normal. Blood sugar fasting 160 ,p.p 237. Unable to walk properly. Require support while walking/ climbing stairs. Pain extends to upper thigh and hip area. Reduced physical activity due to lockdown. 5-6 kg Weight gain in past one month. Please suggest some light exercises and food suggestions if possible.

Try to reduce swelling by applying ice pack for 10min over painful area And then start with mild strengthening exercises for knee Such as towel pressing and straight leg raise Minimum 10 reps

Hello, The pain could be because of inactivity and also weight gain. Please use an ice pack for about 10 minutes 2-3 times a day on the area of swelling. If you feel a floating kind of movement in the knee joint, please consult an orthopaedic.

Hi uncle. No need to worry. It may be increase due to less exercise or may be over wt. Pain is radiating to hip due to changing of gait pattern. If necessary I would like to advice:- X-ray Lt KNEE-AP & Lat view.

Sir this is knee joint issue .in your age this is common . according to my advice to you that use hot compression around the knee joint Do static quadrishape excrise for 5 Repetition each for two times a day and sustained knee extension excrise as per your possible. Sit  up and down as per your possible

Your pain could be due to arthritic knee. Your age and weight gain could be the contributing factors.

You should give hot water fomentation around the knee joint for 10-15 minutes twice a day. You can apply volini gel or spray. But ensure that you are not allergic and you have good sensation around the knee to avoid burns.

Due to lockdown ur weight gain is much in this age as you are already 60 try to control ur diet with light food and proper activity of atleast walking is a must but due to this problem I may think u have a back ache . . Since u have a pain it is not advisable to do exercises but proper rest is a must while sleeping use a pillow at the back of knee and while sitting use a pillow at the back and u need a foot rest . Gently move the foot up and down and press ur knee using a soft cushion at the back of knee for few second and relax gently move ur leg up and down all these exercises in sleeping position. If the pain aggravate kindly stop doing. It and apply a hot fermentation pack at the painful area followed by a pain relieving gel if you have any . For the diet pattern u should stick to ur meal on time and have like wheat bread n the morng and little millet rice in the afternoon and atleast two phulka n the night kindly have some coffee as per ur wish in the middle of the meal times . Take care stay safe if ur sugar get increased don’t panic have the habit of having fenugreek powder early morning in empty stomach due to lockdown u have to maintain urself .

Hi Sir your complains and history are in favour of muscles surrounding knee got strained because of sudden weight gain and stair walk aggravating it. We should rule out Osteoarthritis of Knee by X-ray. As per your medical history You are on Pain and Muscle relaxant. May require Anti Inflammatory if pain doesn’t subside. Do Knee Isometric Exercises 1. Pressing a towel roll Under Your Knee for 10 Seconds and release repeat 10 times. Increase in progression 2. Ankle toe movements in elevated foot end with pillows 3. Straight leg raises alternate limbs holding for 6-10 seconds 4. Hot water Fomentation 5. Knee Cap/ Support while walking 6 Volini / Omni gel gentle application over painful site 7. Avoid sitting on floor & use western commode
