Pain on legs specially calf
I want to sleep flat on my back without turning onto my side, but I can't. Sleeping on my side causes significant pain in my legs, especially my calves. Could you suggest ways to help me sleep comfortably on my back?

Sleeping on your back is usually the most comfortable position for many people with leg or back pain. Place a pillow under your knees to slightly bend the hips and knees, which helps reduce tension on the calf muscles, hamstrings, and lower back. A small pillow under the ankles may also help if your calves feel tight. Ensure your mattress provides adequate support and avoid keeping your feet pointed downward for prolonged periods. If the pain persists despite changing your sleeping position, it may indicate an underlying issue such as muscle tightness, nerve irritation, or a vascular problem that should be evaluated.
Next Steps
Consult a physiotherapist for a detailed assessment of your calf pain. They may assess muscle flexibility, nerve involvement, spinal causes, and circulation. Based on the findings, a tailored stretching, strengthening, and pain-relief program can be started.
Health Tips
Seek prompt medical attention if the calf pain is associated with swelling, redness, warmth, sudden severe pain, numbness, weakness, or shortness of breath, as these symptoms require urgent evaluation. Avoid forcing one sleeping position if it significantly increases your discomfort.

Your nerves are currently recovering from a profound B12 deficiency, meaning their protective outer insulation (the myelin sheath) is still healing. When you sleep on your side, the structural alignment of your hips and lower back shifts, which can mechanically pinch, stretch, or compress the sciatic nerve pathway running down to your calves. Because your nerves are already hyper-sensitive, even normal side-sleeping pressure can trigger significant pain.
Next Steps
Place a medium-sized, firm pillow directly under your knees when lying on your back. This slightly flexes your hips and knees, taking the structural tension off your lower back and sciatic nerve.

try sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees to reduce strain on your lower back and legs. You can also place pillows on either side of your body to help prevent rolling onto your side. Gentle calf and hamstring stretches before bed, staying hydrated, and using a supportive mattress and pillow may also improve comfort. If the pain is severe, persistent, or associated with numbness or weakness, it should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
Next Steps
Try these positioning changes for 1–2 weeks. If symptoms continue or worsen, consult a physiotherapist for assessment to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
Health Tips
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sudden leg swelling, redness, severe pain, loss of sensation, or difficulty controlling your bladder or bowels.
