Slip Disc L4-L5-S1
I had backpain since i lifted a 10 year boy last year May 2019. I took it lightly and used to do home workout. Then on sept 2019 on visiting an orthopedic surgeon  through MRI i got to know about my slip disc. Then i used to visit my doctor every month. I haven't visited my orthopaedic doctor since 6 months now. I'm in bed rest since 6 month now Pain has reduced but sometimes when i sit to do my studies i feel the cramps on my right legs and i experience  some tingling sensation on hip nd sometimes on leg. Please recommend me what should i do. Any excercise? Or should i visit any physiotherapist near me!?? Also i guess because of wrong yoga.. i have got a new pain in two places of my spine.

Hi dear, you are too young for even 6 days rest. Please start gentle physio guided exercises and leisure walks for 10 to 15 minutes. 6 month post bedrest the body becomes weaker so u need to get your self examined hands-on by a physiotherapist and build you way up from there.

Hello, Your radiating pain could be due to nerve root compression because of the slip disc. U have been o  bed rest for 6 months and it has helped with your pain. But pain in sitting could be because of wrong posture and over working and weakness of back muscles. You need to build muscle strength and adopt proper posture.
Next Steps
Consult a Physiotherapist with your MRI report and start doing exercises under supervision. Physiotherapist will help with pain management,  nerve mobilization and back muscles and core strengthening exercises depending on your level of disc prolapse and muscle strength. Doing exercises without consulting might aggravate your pain.
Health Tips
1. Use hot pack for back pain. 2. For pain in hip area or lower leg use ice packs as doing hot pack there might cause nerve irritation. 3. Avoid forward bending. 4. Don't sit or stand for longer periods of time. If you have to take frequent breaks in between. Thank you.

You have probably started some treatment by now. If not it would be worthwhile to do so. In physiotherapy there a exercises that deal with the movement restriction. These could prove beneficial as you have a significant time of restriction of movement. Not all pain down the leg is due to a nerve involvement. So it also important to know if you have weakness in your legs or any issues with toilet activities( bowel or bladder problems)
Next Steps
a proper assessment would be needed.
Health Tips
avoid strenuous activities.

As youre young,Its not always the right thing to immobilize the spine and keep you under bed rest.you shud consult a Qualified Exercise Therapist who could take away all your suffferings. All the best. You ll be Ok soon.God Bless

Hi, its good that pain has subsided after taking complete bed rest for 6 months. Since the pain has reduced you have to initiate with back stretching exercises , low back strengthening exercises and core exercises.
Next Steps
First stop all the exercises you should go and consult a physiotherapist along with your MRI reports because exercises will be initiated according to your level of disc prolapse.
Health Tips
Do not take further bed rest as muscles might go for atropy. Start low back strengthening , stretching and core exercises strictly on physio’s guidence.
