What should I do to give rest to my eyes if I have not slept the whole night? Sleep cycle is also bad. I am unable to sleep the whole night and then I have pain in my eyes the whole day. Please tell me any medicine or something else for this.

🧠 My Opinion (Psychiatrist’s Perspective): At 16, sleep disturbances and eye discomfort from sleep deprivation are usually linked to poor sleep hygiene, stress, gadget overuse, or underlying anxiety. Eye strain and fatigue during the day are natural consequences of poor rest, especially when screen time is high or bedtime routine is irregular. While medicines should be avoided at this age unless strictly necessary, regulating your natural sleep-wake cycle is essential.
Next Steps
🪜 Next Step (What should the patient do next?): 1. Follow a consistent sleep schedule – sleep and wake at the same time daily, even on weekends. 2. Avoid screens (mobile, laptop, TV) for at least 1 hour before bedtime. 3. Practice relaxation techniques – deep breathing, light reading, or guided meditation at bedtime. 4. Use lubricating eye drops (preservative-free) to relieve eye strain temporarily. 5. Limit caffeine and sugar intake post-evening hours. 6. If this persists >2 weeks, consult a psychiatrist or sleep specialist for evaluation.
Health Tips
⚠️ Helpful Tips / Word of Caution: Don’t use any sleeping pills without medical supervision, especially at your age. Avoid naps during the day, as they disturb your night cycle further. If you experience sadness, excessive worry, or overthinking at night – it may indicate early anxiety or depression. Please don’t ignore this. You're still very young, and with the right changes, your sleep and health can improve significantly — without needing medication. --- 🌙 Restful sleep = Healthy mind = Better focus & happier eyes!

As per your symptoms, main problem is disturbed sleep cycle. Disturbed sleep give rise to irritability, lethargicness, pain in eyes and the person not feel fresh whole day. For sound sleep, without help of medication you have to follow some changes in your routine. You are a student, 16 years old must have lot to study. During day time, never sleep more than one hour, avoid tea coffee after 5 O clock, take dinner before 8 , at least relaxation exercises or some brisk walk in a day, reduce screen use( if you study on phone, try to study on phone during day time), if sleep time is 11, never use mobile or laptop after 9. In addition to all these changes, if you think you need Medications, you can consult a Psychiatrist and medications will be helpful for early response and have no addiction potential because lifestyle changes will take few weeks to set your sleep cycle

Hello, thank you for reaching out. Lack of sleep and disturbed sleep cycles at your age can affect both mental focus and eye health. Your symptoms indicate sleep deprivation, which needs a behavioral and therapeutic approach—not just medication. #SleepDisorders #TeenMentalHealth #DrJigneshAhir #MindBodyConnection
Next Steps
1. Follow a fixed sleep schedule daily (same sleep and wake time). 2. Avoid mobile/laptop screen 1 hour before bed. 3. Use a cold compress or gentle eye gel for tired eyes. 4. Start 5-minute mindfulness/relaxation before bed to train your brain to sleep. 5. Book a session with a psychologist if the sleep issue continues for more than a week.
Health Tips
Stay hydrated and eat balanced meals. If eye pain increases or vision blurs, consult an eye specialist. Early therapy intervention can improve sleep hygiene naturally.
