Hi , You cannot sleep and are  captivated by thoughts , which means there are areas of distress and concerns which  revolves in your mind . Counseling therapies can be a wonderful tool to help people live a fulfilling life. Therapy addresses a wide range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and also immediate mental health concerns.  It helps develop strategies for managing the stress . You will also have a partner who wants to nonjudgementally understand you and support you and will work towards restoring your well-being. Approach a counselor. Self help tips Physical Exercise  -  stimulates the release of many of the brain chemicals which are in low supply when someone is battling anxiety. Yoga and meditation : Very effective , deep breathing  intakes a good proportion of oxygen in your body and oxygenates the blood cells well thus boosting your mood and also slows down the release of stress hormone . Hello Friend, Good that you are seeking a help here. As you rightly identified, the actual root cause behind your disturbed sleep is anxious thoughts. If your mind is pre occupied with anxious or worrying or fearful thoughts always ,then obviously it will disturb the sleep. So instead of treating the symptoms, just observe and analyze the root cause behind such anxious thoughts. May be you need a guidance or help from professional like us to assess and screen your symptoms to isolate and identify the root cause, so that appropriate treatment can be suggested instead of giving some general advice. Be positive. Don't hesitate to consult. Feel free reach me online or call for further evaluation and recommendation. Be positive. You will be alright soon.

Dear mam I can imagine it must be quite difficult for you. Sleep problem is usually a symptom and we need to understand the reason why it is occurring. Sleep issues cam occur in certain physical health conditions, Mental Haiti problems like anxiety disorder, depression etc. I quite recommend that you visit a psychiatrist in person for a detailed evaluation to understand what is causing these symptoms. Treatment depends on the outcome of assessment and cam be either medication or psychological therapy. You can try certain sleep hygiene techniques like regular exercise, meditation, yoga, keeping your room comfortable, restricting use of caffeine, restricting day time naps etc. Thanks Regards Dr Ankita Mishra

Hello practo user I can understand your concerns regarding your overall health and well being . Sleep can be disturbed due to many stressful and negative factors . You can try and practice deep breathing and guided sleep mediation on a regular basis to help clear your mind of negative thoughts . Maintain a good sleep hygiene which includes -- limiting your phone usage at night ,avoiding heavy meals for dinner , no caffeine or alcohol , have a warm shower and a relaxing tea before bed , avoid working on your bed , try and talk to a close friend or family member to relax your mind . It is advisable that you seek help from a clinical psychologist for a better understanding of your case and formulation of a personalized treatment plan through regular counseling sessions. You can also reach out to me through the practo app for any further help or guidance.

Hello Pradeepa Ganesh There are many reasons for problem sleeping. This can be because of stressful lifestyle, hormonal imbalances, frequent changes in work shifts, and depression. I see that you mentioned overwhelming negative thoughts that occupy your mind when you go to bed. This can be an early sign of depression. However, like I suggested earlier, there can be many other causes also, all of which are treatable!!
Next Steps
please consult a Psychiatrist for a complete evaluation of your problem
Health Tips
try to have a routine with -moderate exercise regularly -adequate hydration -follow sleep hygiene -breathing exercises for relaxation
