I've been skinny all my life. I eat very less too as my appetite is like that. I want to gain weight. Should I hit the gym or first consult with a doctor? If so, what kind of doctor should I consult and any tests should be taken?
When I was 14-15 years old, did a full medical check-up and the doctor said I would struggle to gain weight naturally because of a heart-value growth.

While gaining weight you need to focus more on improving your calorie intake and include more nutrient dense foods. Relying only on gym workouts won't benefit you much as diet plays a very important role in weight management.
Keep below points in mind to gain weight in a healthy way:
- Eat small and frequent meals instead of having large meals throughout the day. Aim for 5-6 small meals which will help improve your appetite.
- Focus more on including nutrient dense foods such as whole grains and millets and include healthy fats like avocados, nuts and nut butters.
- Include protein rich foods such as pulses, soya, eggs, fish and lean chicken which will help build lean muscle mass and support strength.
- Try doing strength training exercise which will help improve your muscle mass along with a nutrient rich diet.

1.eat more calories-consistently : you need more than your body burns every day
Focus on calorie and nutrient dense foods , not junk
Nuts , seeds, nut butter , whole milk , yogurt, cheese , paneer , eggs, chicken, lean meat , ghee , olive oils, whole grains, oats , brown rice and legumes, beans, lentils
2. Prioritise Protein
1.2-1.6 gm protein per kg body weight per day
Includes
Eggs, chicken, fish , paneer, tofu , Greek yogurt, lentils, chickpeas , whey protein
3. Strength training
Weight training builds muscles
4. Eat frequently
