I had ankle reconstruction surgery in 2006 after meeting with an accident. From then on I have severe pain & swelling in the ankle often. The pain is in the nerves & ligaments & not bone.

Pain following ankle fracture could be secondary arthritis. You need an x ray. If the x ray is fine, you need the implant to be removed ( if not removed ). If the x ray shows arthritis I fear you might need a surgery for arthritis
Next Steps
X ray and consult the doctor who has treated your fracture
