Root canal and antibiotics
My father underwent angioplasty 2 years ago. Now he is going through root canal as he had a severe toothache. But the dentist did not give any antibiotics.Tomorrow it is the last sitting of him.Should he ask his dentist for antibiotics? I am afraid as he had TVCAD. Without antibiotics can anything serious happen?

Antibiotics are generally given in root canal if there is any underlying infection in the tooth. If the doctor is confident of his procedure he might not give any antibiotics.

No it varies on how much infection is there in the tooth.. But it’s always better to have antibiotics so that there’s no chance of infection…

Hi, Antibiotics are prescribed depending on the amount of infection. Discuss with your dentist regarding the same.
