Removal of wisdom tooth
Hi, so recently I consulted with dentist as I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth (Right side) . There is no pain till now. So I took an opg and I have attached it here. So the dr recommended to take it out. But my doubt is that should I take cbct as it's closer to nerve canal. The dr didn't recommended it. Should I take it ?

Hello, On the right side the lower wisdom tooth seems to be multi rooted, a CBCT would help in better view of position of the tooth and the nerve position as well
Next Steps
CBCT
Health Tips
I would also recommend getting the left side upper and lower wisdom tooth extracted, as the positioning and cavity would start damaging the tooth in front of it

Hi, since the OPG you have attached seems to reveal a close approximation with the nerve canal going for a CBCT will definitely help & give much better clarity to the concerned professional.

OPG is a two dimensional study ,so exact location of the nerve canal cannot be ascertained. Though the canal outline can be traced ,it still lies in close proximity ,as seen in your x ray. If CBCT can be afforded and available ,then can be done as the tooth definitely needs surgical removal. If not possible ,then the doctor will take extra precautions during the surgery .
Next Steps
Consult an Oral &Maxillofacial Surgeon

Given the above case , yes taking CBCT will be beneficial for better clearity and to minimise the risk of trauma or any difficulty during extraction.
