Depends who is treating you. An endodontist, experienced and working under a microscope can re do rct with  a time access hole through an old crown.

If you're not feeling any pain or discomfort and the root canal is fine in the xray, then you should go ahead with the crown.

Better to go for new crown. However if the old crown was recently made and it fits snugly then old crown could be reused. Xray should be taken to check the fit of old crown.
