I had my wisdom teeth extracted 4 days ago (Friday, May 11) and it has been hard for me to re-gain an appetite due to the pain medications and antibiotics and the medications cause frequent naseua. I use medical marijuana and have a small pen that I use to smoke. Would it be safe to softly inhale using the pen to help reduce the naseua? Nothing else seems to help, however, I don't want to cause a "dry socket" or hinder the healing process. I started using a straw yesterday with no pain.

Hi,
You did not mention the medicines you were taking. Nausea you are experiencing may be a result of the medicines you are taking in addition to lack of proper diet which is due to difficulty in eating. Don't take medicines on empty stomach. Have proper diet as permissible and prescribed by your treating dentist.
Please avoid marijuana and any form of smoking and drinking of alcohol till your healing process is complete as it's a deterrent to healing.
Take fruit juice, milk and soft cold less spicy food items. Eat on small intervals.
Follow all the instructions provided by your dentist.
Next Steps
Contact with your treating dentist for determining the possible causes of nausea and to see if any change of medicine is required.
Health Tips
Do not use straws, drink from a glass. Using a straw with sucking motion can cause more bleeding by dislodging the blood clot. Avoid carbonated beverages or very hot foods or drinks. A soft, non-chewing diet is recommended for 10 days to 2 weeks after tooth extraction to allow the gum tissue to heal.

Hello madam
If they have put you on metronidazole then your most likely to have nausea so you need to take antacid before food and tobacco in any form is not good for health so avoid it
If they have extracted wisdom tooth with bone guttering then healing takes time so no need to worry
Take the antibiotics and analgesic as directed by your doc
Hi, after a wisdom tooth extraction it generally takes about 2 weeks time to heal. However, smoking or tobacco/ substitute in any form would delay the healing process, try avoiding them. For your nausea you can take an antacid with an anti nauseating medicine e.g. Pan D etc 30 mins before food or 1 hour after food. Follow the instructions given by your dentist. If in case you have severe pain let me know. Take care.
When there is an extraction( impaction )wound, you need to protect it. Medication can be changed to stop your nausea by adding antacids / antiemetics, smoking is not good in this situation, it will hamper healing of the socket, meet your dentist get the socket debridement, you will be fine .
First of all u should stop taking any kind of smoke as it creates the negative pressure so its healing will be hindered definately... Moreover u should stop medicines noe and start with warm saline rinses.. atleat 5 times a day
Any kind of smoke will hinder in healing. It may be difficult to say exactly without seeing the surgical area. Generally condition improves in 4 days time. Hope you are doing Mouth opening exercises. It helps. Local home care which your dentist must have taught you is as important as the treatment itself. Keep the area clean. Brush with paste after every meal. Use a mouth wash with the correct technique, in case of any difficulty visit your dentist
