Persistent coughing
I've been coughing continuously for almost a month now, I had finished 2 bottles of cough syrup, had taken ayurvedic medicine but nothing helps, I don't notice any other symptoms besides sometimes cold. Should I be concerned? And get diagnosed or it would go on its own.

Care AI Shimmer
Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern. A cough lasting for a month is considered subacute to chronic, and it usually does not resolve on its own without identifying the underlying cause. Common causes include post-viral cough, allergies, asthma, acid reflux, or less commonly infections like pertussis or tuberculosis. General Advice: Avoid irritants like smoke, dust, or strong perfumes. Stay hydrated and use a humidifier if air is dry. Avoid over-the-counter cough syrups without medical guidance, as they may not treat the cause. Tests / Evaluation: Chest X-ray Complete blood count Sputum test if needed Allergy or asthma evaluation if no infection is found When to consult a doctor immediately: Cough with blood or yellow/green sputum Shortness of breath or chest pain Fever, unexplained weight loss, or night sweats Given that your cough has lasted almost a month, I strongly recommend seeing a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment rather than waiting for it to go away. You can connect with me on Practo or WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a personalized consultation. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

Since your cough is persisting >3 weeks, you should get evaluated. It may still be something simple (allergy, post-viral, reflux), but it’s important to rule out infections like TB.

Since your cough has lasted more than a month, it definitely needs a proper evaluation. Many simple issues like allergy, asthma, acid reflux, or even hidden infections can cause such symptoms — but these need to be identified correctly. With the right tests (like chest X-ray or lung function test), we can find the exact reason and start effective treatment so you get lasting relief. I would strongly suggest you connect with me directly here for a detailed consultation — I’ll guide you step by step and ensure you get the right treatment instead of temporary fixes
