Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. Your case has been allotted to me. I understand your concern. Persistent or recurring cough and cold over several weeks, especially after travel and weather change, is very common and often related to post-viral bronchitis, allergic airway sensitivity, or sinus infection rather than a persistent bacterial infection. Since you already took Azee 500 and Montec LC, the current recurrence is more likely due to airway irritation, pollution exposure, or reinfection during travel rather than antibiotic failure. 1. Advices Avoid cold beverages, curd, and exposure to dust or air-conditioning for a few days. Do warm saline gargles twice daily and steam inhalation for 10 minutes morning and evening. Drink warm water frequently and avoid sudden temperature shifts. 2. What to Monitor Nature of cough — dry or with phlegm, and whether it’s worsening at night or early morning. Presence of fever, chest tightness, or breathing difficulty. 3. Management Avoid repeating antibiotics blindly, as overuse can reduce effectiveness and disturb immunity. You can try the following approach: • Continue Montec LC once daily at night for 10 days. • Add Levosalbutamol + Ambroxol syrup (10 ml twice daily) if cough is productive. • Use Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast if there’s throat irritation or acid reflux worsening cough. If symptoms persist beyond 5–7 days or you develop fever, thick yellow sputum, or chest heaviness, then shifting to a stronger antibiotic like Taxim-O 200 mg twice daily for 5 days may be considered under supervision. Sometimes, a Chest X-ray or CBC helps confirm if an infection is truly bacterial before starting another antibiotic course. 4. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately If you develop breathlessness or wheezing. If fever or productive cough persists more than a week. If there’s blood in sputum or severe chest pain. Every patient’s situation is unique. From your description, this seems post-viral or allergic in nature rather than bacterial, so supportive treatment and allergy control usually work better than repeating antibiotics. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you’ll receive: • A personalized treatment plan • Safe medicine adjustments (if required) • Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician
