Hello, Your symptoms of cough, cold, and body aches since yesterday evening are suggestive of an acute viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). Common causes include the common cold, influenza, or COVID-19. Most uncomplicated viral infections improve within 5–7 days, although the cough may persist slightly longer. Since your symptoms started recently and are moderate, supportive treatment is usually sufficient, provided you have no breathing difficulties or other concerning symptoms.
Next Steps
Rest adequately and maintain good hydration with water, soups, and warm fluids. Paracetamol 500 mg may be taken every 6–8 hours if needed for body pain or fever, provided there are no contraindications. Avoid exceeding 3,000 mg daily. Use saline nasal spray if you experience nasal congestion. Warm fluids and 1–2 teaspoons of honey may help soothe coughing. Consult a general physician if symptoms worsen or fail to improve over the next few days.
Health Tips
Avoid smoking, dust, and cold irritants. Wear a mask around others and maintain good hand hygiene to reduce transmission. Antibiotics are generally unnecessary for uncomplicated viral infections. Avoid combining multiple cold medications, as some contain overlapping ingredients, particularly paracetamol. Seek medical attention if you develop difficulty breathing, chest pain, persistent high fever, dehydration, or marked worsening of symptoms. My recommendation: At this stage, adequate rest, hydration, and symptomatic treatment are appropriate. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

A cold with cough and body aches that started yesterday evening is most often a viral infection. It usually peaks over the first two to three days before easing up. The body pain you're feeling is usually general inflammation from the virus, not a separate problem.
Next Steps
Rest and drink warm fluids through the day. Gargle with warm salt water for your throat, and take paracetamol for the body ache and any fever. Most colds like this settle within a week without antibiotics.
Health Tips
Please see a physician if you get a high fever, breathing feels difficult, or things aren't improving after 4 to 5 days.
