Patellar maltracking happens when the outer thigh structures like the Iliotibial band alongwith the lateral retinaculum at the knee are being tight. Coupled with this, if the Vastus medialis is weak then this leads to Patellar maltracking. Please visit a Sports/ Ortho Physiotherapist who will help release the tight structures, strengthen the weak muscles and restore the knee to normalcy. K- taping is often used to maintain the gains achieved in the Physiotherapy sessions.

Sometimes it takes longer to heal if some risk factors are aggravating...have your Physiotherapist assess that in detail. Also McConnell taping to facilitate patellar tracking and Patellor femoral support strap can help expedite healing.
