My 14year son is having pain in last 2 molar teeth uper 2 and lower 2 molars after doing filing. He was having little cavity so after checking dr. suggested to do filing. He was not having any pain before filing but after filing he started getting pain if he eats any hard food on filing side. So visited dentist again he reduced the filing and adjusted bite issue. Then also he is having pain after eating.. Pain happens only after eating,at rest its normal. After filing his teeth has become sensitive to cold. Plz help its more then 14 days but no solution why its happening.

Hi! Pain while chewing and cold sensitivity may be due to a high filling or it being too close to the nerve. Please revisit the dentist for a bite adjustment and an X-ray. If the filling is near the nerve or the pulp is inflamed, a root canal may be needed. Avoid hard foods on that side for now

Get occlusal adjustments done from the dentist so as to reduce the pain while chewing. you can also get an xray done to check whether the filling is very close to nerve in which case it may require a root canal treatment.

Pain after filling that too on biting hard foods may be because of 2 reasons:
1. Filling height - can be checked and corrected.
2. In case of deep cavities, while filling the nerve underneath might get irritated, leading to sensitivity, discomfort on biting food.
If this is the reason and the problem persists for more than a week, then mostly the root canal treatment is the option. To be checked with x-ray.
This filling might need some occlusal adjustments. A better treatment plan can be made if the XRays are available for diagnosis. the gum health might also be assessed.
