Mood Swings
I've recently had intercourse and the next day I took an I-Pill. Since the next day I am very sad and every morning I am waking up with a heavy heart feeling and I just feel like crying. I am not going through any kind of stress, I firstly thought I was going through some personal love life issue but that is sorted out and still I woke up with a heavy heart and blank mind and I just wanted to cry. Did the pill made my hormone fluctuate? Or am I actually depressed? I am very confused! This has never happened before. I be quite all day, I don't feel like talking to anyone, I don't feel like eating food. I cannot figure out what is wrong with me... Help! Please.

Consult with a doctor
Online now
Hi... Please consult a General Physician (doctor) first to rule out the impact of contraceptive pills. Intercourse in itself is not just a sexual act but it also involves lots of exchange of pent-up emotions, desires, guilt, pain, etc. It completely depends on what state of mind you were in and what was going around in your present environment and recent past. If the doctor concludes that everything is fine physiologically, then we can attribute your sudden changes in mood, social interaction, appetite, crying, waking up with heavy heart and blank mind, etc. to your mental health issues (most probably depression).
Next Steps
Consult a General Physician (doctor) first and then a Psychologist for Counselling.

I-Pill, the emergency contraceptive, can, in rare cases, bring in mood swings, tiredness etc. which go away in a few days time. On the other hand, please check out if you are carrying any emotional / feeling issues like guilt or anxiety. In any case if the symptoms persist, please consult a psychologist (if you feel that your condition has more to do with thinking, feeling and emoting) or your family physician if you feel that your issues are more physical like tiredness, fatigue etc.
Next Steps
Please consult a psychologist or family physician, if needed.
