Liver elevated enzymes.
I got checked randomly and found out my liver bio markers are not good. Total bil = 1.7 Sgot= 45 Sgpt= 74 I had an instinct that it is due to ashwagandha I took caused it. I thought of using SWISSE milk thistle and liv 52. Which is good?

Your results show mild LFT elevation: Total Bilirubin: 1.7 mg/dL → slightly high SGOT (AST): 45 U/L → mild elevation SGPT (ALT): 74 U/L → mild elevation These levels suggest mild liver inflammation, not severe liver injury ✅ Could Ashwagandha cause this? Yes. Although rare, Ashwagandha has been reported to cause mild–moderate liver enzyme elevation in some people. It can cause: Elevated SGOT/SGPT Mild jaundice Fatigue Dark urine (sometimes) If you started Ashwagandha recently, it is a likely cause. 📌 Do this: 1. Stop Ashwagandha and any other supplements. Liver enzymes often start improving within 10–14 days. 2. Avoid alcohol, painkillers (especially paracetamol in high dose), bodybuilding supplements, and fatty food for 2 weeks. 3. You may take either: Milk Thistle 140–300 mg once daily OR Liv 52 DS 1 tablet twice daily (optional) (Both are safe, but Milk Thistle is more evidence-based.) 4. Repeat LFT after 3–4 weeks

Your liver values are mildly elevated, and the pattern actually fits something very common in young adults: 1. Mild Liver Stress / Early Drug-Induced Liver Injury Your values: Total bilirubin: 1.7 (slightly high) SGOT: 45 (mildly high) SGPT: 74 (moderately high) This is NOT severe, but it is definitely not something to ignore. Many herbal supplements including ashwagandha, gym boosters, fat-burners, and “natural immunity boosters” can cause mild liver inflammation in some people. So your suspicion is reasonable. But we cannot confirm the cause without looking at: Duration of supplement use Dosage Alcohol intake Workout pattern Past liver tests Sleep and diet habits These details matter more than the numbers themselves. 2. Milk Thistle vs Liv 52? Neither should be started blindly. Both are supportive supplements, NOT primary treatments. The real question is: Why is your liver reacting this way at 22 years? If we don’t answer that, using random liver tonics is pointless. Also, starting liver supplements without knowing the cause can delay proper diagnosis if the values rise again. 3. What should actually be done now Before suggesting any treatment, you need: Repeat LFT after 1–2 weeks Ultrasound abdomen (to rule out fatty liver) History review of all supplements, alcohol, medications Assessment of symptoms (jaundice, nausea, appetite changes, stool/urine colour) Only then can we decide whether: It is supplement-related A temporary viral issue Early fatty liver Something else This is where personalised guidance becomes important. 4. What you should avoid right now All supplements (including ashwagandha, pre-workouts, unknown herbs) Alcohol Gym overload / heavy lifting Painkillers like diclofenac or excessive paracetamol Give your liver a chance to settle first. If you want, I can help you interpret your numbers and create a proper liver-recovery plan Once I know your history and habits in detail, I can tell you: The likely cause of your liver elevation Whether you need any further tests Whether milk thistle/Liv 52 will help in your specific case How to normalise your liver enzymes safely When to repeat tests What to do next so the enzymes don’t rise again You can book a private consultation with me on whatsapp at Nine Three Two Six Zero Two Zero Five Three Six so I can review everything step-by-step and guide you properly instead of giving random supplement advice.
