Hello doctor,
I am pregnant and from last 2-3 days there is swelling in my gums at left side of jaw.due to this I feel toothache while chewing food.
I tried using Listerine mouthwash once or twice it gives me relief. I am bit worried is it safe to use Listerine mouthwash during pregnancy as it has alcohol and essential oil.
Due to nausea during early pregnancy I wasn't able to brush my teeth properly as it lead to vomiting.
Can you please advise

Better to switch to water based mouthwash instead like Colgate plax or chlorhexidine based mouthwashes available easily. However understand that mouthwash is not an alternative to brushing and flossing.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy can make your gums more vulnerable to plaque, leading to inflammation and bleeding. If you in 2nd trimester (4-6 months) of pregnancy, can get the dental treatment done.
