Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area

Please make sure you choose a good hospital for the surgery as the novice surgeons may charge you less but a greater chancer are of the surgery Failing. and there are 'N' numbers of failure of surgery. Make sure you get the Whole package i.e. Surgery + Rehabilitation (physio + Occupational Therapy) so that you are aware what to do , how to do, and most importantly WHAT NOT TO DO. (to reduce the chances of failure). Cost would be somewhere around 5-6 Lacs.
Next Steps
Do not OPT by HOSPITAL NAME or The FINANCIALS INVOLVED. but the team and the their results.
Health Tips
U MUST CONsult an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST TO KNOW WHAT NOT TO DO. STAY HEALTHY

Hello there,,,well you need to share MRI,Xray reports so as to have a clue regarding your mothers knee condition... from my experience of practising the profession in india and abroad...knee replacement should be the last option to consider for knee pain relief...however knee replacement becomes important if the problem gives difficuilties in simple day to day activites of your mother....also if HLA b27 factor (Rhematoid Arthritis) is present for your mother then knee replacement becomes all the more important....however i again repeat it should be the option when other conservative methods are tried and tested and the quality of life of patient is severly affected.....regarding the cost...it depends on the surgeon, the hospital, prosthesis and even City.

Regards & take care.

Hi, if your mother is having severe osteoarthritis requiring knee replacement surgery then there is no
other long term alternative. Other things may give temporary relief but it cannot reverse the mechanical defect and the resultant damage.
Also the 'fear' of TKR is unfounded. If done with appropriate care it should give good results.
As regard to the cost of surgery, it depends largely on the prosthesis used and the hospital.

Greetings. Sorry to hear about your mother's state of health.

Have you tried other ways to solve knee problem like physiotherapy etc. If not give a physio treatment for three months she will be better, walking will improve.

Try to avoid total knee replacement at all cost. Remember osteoarthritis  is a medical formula to make you think knee is under stress. It can be reversed. There is no such thing called osteoarthritic disability. Osteoarthritic conditions can be reversed.

If any further assistance is needed mail me or call me.

Remember there is a way out to stop replacement. Be assured.

Hi...Most probable cause at this age is osteoarthritis... It's a degenerative bone disease...There’s no cure for osteoarthritis as yet, but there are a number of treatments that can help ease symptoms and reduce the chances arthritis becoming worse...Treatment depends upon the stage...cost of tkr depends upon hospitals Consult any medical college hospital it will be less comparatively there. Good luck.
