Is Wisdom Tooth Extraction Necessary
My partially erupted Wisdom Tooth (lower right side) shows an inclined angle in X-Ray. Although it's not causing me any trouble so far, people suggest it's better to get wisdom tooth extracted. What I understand is that it's better to get wisdom tooth extracted when it's roots are small. Right now I am 30 years old, not sure if the roots will continue to grow from now, so if it's better to get the tooth extracted now. But also further eruption of the tooth in later age may ease extraction later?

well looks like you have been misinformed or you have read these things on the net but are unclear......let me tell you that surgery is easier if roots are small but that's not a criteria for decision to extract. The tooth, if troublesome, can be surgically extracted at any age almost with certain precautions which your surgeon will know the best in your particular case.

A lot depends on clinical examination as the angle of the tooth may be such that it may cause food impaction and other problems which may affect the tooth in front of it. If such is the case then it should be removed as it may damage that tooth. If not, you can wait for a while but remember it is better to do an elective surgery than wait for pain to start which makes it more complicated.

Get it extracted now. It will cause pain and swelling some day.. And it'll hurt a lot. Plus increasing age means more hard bone, which implies longer working time, slower healing...

Hello, If THE WISDOM TOOTH IS NOT PROPERLY INCLINED,then it is advised to get it removed to safeguard the longevity of the adjacent tooth and prevent the wisdom tooth getting infected, which may happen at a later stage.

If you don't have any symptoms right now you can wait for sometime before getting the tooth extracted but there are a few points which you need to understand which are unchangeable..... The roots are not going to grow any further at this age. The inclination of the tooth will not become straight because there option of this tooth is over by 21 or 22 years of age. If it is inclined, it will always have a tendency to put pressure on the adjacent tooth and can even can cause cavitation in that tooth. The extraction procedure will remain the same at this age or anytime after this and the post operative healing phase will also be the same. The main suggestion would be to go for an elective extraction and not wait for the symptoms to arise. Regards.
