Complete tear of ACL has to be treated surgically. Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction is a very common surgery these days with really good post surgical outcomes

Greetings! If there is instability while walking or the knee “feels loose”, complete tears of the ACL usually require an arthroscopic surgery after a conservative trial. Thanks.
Next Steps
If there is pain / swelling Ice packs and analgesics.

How did it  occur? You may give a trial to conservative treatment. If no relief,  go for surgery.
