Hello Doctor,
My name is Vinod, I have been using coconut oil for 3 months. I am suffering from stomach swelling and left leg limb edema.Hence I have taken Doppler test for Limb and Ultrasound abdomen and pelvis scan for stomach. Grade 1 Fatty liver has been detected in the results. Is coconut oil causing this problem? Please suggest.
Thanks,
Vinod

Sedentary lifestyle and eating junk food is the problem. What's junk food? If you require 2000 cal/day and you eat 2500cal/day. You have 500 cal of junk food. If your food is not balanced and you are eating the appropriate calories still it's junk food.
Next Steps
Resolution? Eat well balanced diet. Fasting atleast 1 day a week. Weight loss. Regular exercise. Most importantly min 7 hrs continuous sleep at night. No smoking and drinking
If you stick to these things for minimum 6 months, then you are going to be healthy.
Health Tips
Don't blame the coconut oil. Grade 1 fatty liver doesn't come in 3 months.
Conflicting information on coconut oil use in fatty liver have emerged.Same is said about olive oil. While treating the fatty liver ,one has to avoid fatty foods , alcohol consumption plus exercising regularly for 30 minutes a day.Get your liver function tests done to check the enzymes level.
Reduced in take of oil, be it any, daily excercise weight reduction if over weight is treatment for fatty liver
best is keep changing oil and whatever oil use in small quantity
Please provide more detail information, like weight, history of diabetes hypertension, addiction like alcohol and lifestyle,as grade 1 fatty liver is a non specific finding and it can be found in various illnesses,so before coming to the conclusion I need more detail history
