Is 600 IU vitamin D safe for baby?
My 3½-month-old baby has been taking Abbrivit D3 0.5 mL once daily (800 IU/mL) since birth. Today Ossopan-D 2.5 mL twice daily was prescribed, which adds another 200 IU vitamin D3 per day, making the total 600 IU vitamin D3 daily. Is it safe  to continue both at these doses?

The total recommended daily dose is 400 IU per day for infants upto 1year of age in absence of any vitamin D deficiency. 600IU can be used but has no additional benefits. Please share reports if any tests were done were prescribing ossopan D.

The recommended prophylactic dose of Vitamin D3 in infancy (upto 1 year) is 400U/ day. In cases where the child is having deficiency or is suffering from some chronic disease the dose may vary. So 600U/day is safe but you should enquire once from the doctor who prescribed you as to why the additional dose was prescribed.
Next Steps
Ask your doctor who prescribed 200U/ day of extra dose as to what was the indication.
Health Tips
If your child has deficiency the dose should be more.

Vitamin D from two different products can add up quickly, and the right total depends on your baby's weight and how the second product was meant to be used.
Next Steps
Please check back with whoever prescribed Ossopan-D and mention the Abbrivit D3 you're already giving, so they can confirm the combined amount.
Health Tips
Please don't decide the combined dose yourself, even though both products are commonly given together.

Ossopan D is generally not recommended in healthy term baby who is feeding well . Is child on breast feed or formula ? You should only give vitamin D 400 IU/day till one year of age .
