Hello,
I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician (Ex Govt Medical Officer at RML Hospital, New Delhi), and your case has been allotted to me.
Thank you for sharing your concern. This sounds most consistent with motion sickness, which occurs when the eyes and inner ear send conflicting signals to the brain during travelling.
What she should do
⢠Sit in the front seat of a car or near the front/middle of a bus, preferably looking straight ahead at the road. Avoid reading or using the phone.
⢠Keep the window slightly open for fresh air and avoid travelling immediately after a heavy or oily meal.
⢠Take small sips of water and keep the head relatively still during travel.
⢠Medicines such as dimenhydrinate, meclizine or cinnarizine can help, but the correct choice and timing depend on her age, other medicines and medical conditions. Some can cause significant drowsiness, so they should not be taken casually.
⢠If she is vomiting despite taking medication correctly, it would be worthwhile to review whether the medicine and timing are appropriate and to consider other causes such as migraine or an inner ear problem.
If this happens only during travelling and she is otherwise completely well, motion sickness is quite likely. If vomiting occurs even when she is not travelling, or is associated with severe headache, dizziness, hearing changes, weight loss or other neurological symptoms, she should be evaluated.
You may share the name and dose of the medicine she currently takes before travelling, and I can guide you regarding whether it is appropriate.
For personalised one to one consultation, you can reach out to me directly on WhatsApp at 80762047 three eight.
Wishing her good health and comfortable travels.

Motion sickness is common and usually occurs when there is a mismatch between what the eyes see and what the inner ear senses during travel. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, sweating, headache, or uneasiness.
Simple measures such as sitting in the front/middle of the vehicle, looking at the horizon, avoiding reading or using the phone during travel, keeping the cabin well ventilated, and having a light meal before travelling can help.
If she experiences motion sickness frequently or symptoms are severe, a consultation can help identify the triggers and decide whether preventive medication is appropriate for her. You may consult me for a personalized evaluation and treatment plan.
If you would like to discuss your concern in more detail, please feel free to contact me on WhatsApp at eight six one nine six six nine nine zero six. Alternatively, you can connect with me through the Practo app for a detailed consultation
In my practice, this is usually motion sickness caused by a mismatch between the eyes and inner-ear balance signals during travel.
Next Steps
Sit in the front seat, look at the horizon, keep the head still, get fresh air, and avoid reading/screens and heavy meals before travel. Medicines work best before the journey; do not repeat doses without medical advice.
Health Tips
If vomiting continues despite medication, or there is severe dizziness, headache, hearing change, dehydration, or symptoms outside travel, please get examined. You can consult me through Practo Consult or book at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj.
Your motion sickness can still happen if the medicine is taken too close to travel time. Taking it 30 to 60 minutes before you start the journey usually works better than right before leaving.
Next Steps
Try a window seat facing forward, fresh air, and avoid a heavy meal or your phone screen just before you travel.
Health Tips
If this keeps happening on most trips despite medicine, please see a general physician to check for other causes.
This is most probably a motion sickness.
You can let her take Tab Stemetil MD 1tab stat in an empty stomach before any travelling.
Alternative, you can try Scopolamine patch too, to be applied over deltoid or back. It helps in relieving the symptoms.
Kindly avoid using or reading texts while travelling and try not to travel with closed doors, it triggers the symptoms more.
