Impacted wisdom tooth recovery
I got my impacted (horizontally placed) wisdom tooth extracted almost 2 weeks ago. While the stitches have been removed and most of the swelling is down, the part where the bone was shaved is still mildly swollen. I do feel stiff in the same area when i chew or open my mouth. I do sometimes feel that some small liquid is coming out of the surgical site which smells little off. It isnt much however. How long will it take for me to heal fully and be stiffness/ pain free? What all can i do to expedite the healing?

Care AI Shimmer
Antiseptic Rinses: Use warm saline water or prescribed antimicrobial mouthwash to keep the area clean. Mouth-Opening Exercises: Gradually perform jaw-stretching exercises to ease stiffness and prevent muscle spasms.
Next Steps
Follow-Up Appointment: Visit your dentist to rule out any infection or dry socket.
Health Tips
Soft Diet: Stick to soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected side. Hydration & Rest: Drink plenty of water and get adequate rest to support healing. Pain Management: Take prescribed pain relievers and avoid smoking or alcohol, which can slow healing. Monitor Discharge: If the foul-smelling discharge increases or you develop a fever, seek immediate dental care. Complete recovery typically takes 4-6 weeks, but adherence to these steps can expedite the process.

Hello ma'am, Do mouth opening exercises, if you won't do them then the muscle spasm of that area will occur. If discharge is more then take a follow up.

Hello! Mild swelling and stiffness are normal 2 weeks after impacted wisdom tooth extraction, especially if bone was shaved. Start gentle mouth-opening exercises, rinse with warm saline water, and avoid hard foods. If the smell or discharge increases, see your dentist — it could be a mild infection. Full healing can take 4–6 weeks.
