I recently recovered from Anal Fissure. However, to avoid reoccurring, my doctor suggested that I consume a high fiber diet and drink lots of water. He's also suggested that I consume Isabgol- 2 spoons to keep my stools soft and easy to pass. I am currently consuming 1/2 cup cooked oats + 250 gms of fruits for breakfast, rice and curry (veg/nonveg) for lunch and dinner, about 5-8 gms of isabgol or softovac before sleep. I am consuming more than 4 liters of water every day. But whenever i consume so much fiber, i end up getting gas, and my lower stomach feels bloated. I do not have constipation as i can pass stool once a day normally, but the isabgol makes me pass stools 4-5 times a day, which is very inconvenient. I cannot stop isabgol to avoid hardening stools. So please suggest modification in my diet to avoid gas and bloating and reduce the frequency in passing stools. Can i skip oats and fruits from my diet for a few days as some fruits and vegetables tend to make me gassy?

Hello
Hope you are doing well
All fruits , vegetables, whole grains, whole pulses contain much fiber
So you dont need to take isabgol on daily basis
So avoid isabgol for two days and then see how it goes
Water intake is good
If you having gastric issues take 5 g ajwain in 250 ml water
Boil it then drink it twice in a day
Hi
Two suggestions
Have oats and fruits one day
Reduce the quantity of fruits to about 150gms in the morning.
Alternate day have idlis with coriander leaf chutney or tomato chutney. With fruits
Soak about 5 to 8 raisins in water overnight drink that water with the raisins alternate day.
Reduce the quantity of isabgol to 4 to 6gms
Drink about 2.5l to 3 l of fluids.
Not too much like 4 l
Include buttermilk and water with lemon.
As you might get too many vitamins and minerals will be lost if y you drink too much of water without mineral infusion.
Hello!
Take Isabgol when you feel constipation.
It is not to be taken every day if you are not feeling constipation.
Have oats on daily basis at breakfast, and seasonal fruits.
Avoid cabbage ,cauliflower, potatoes for a week as they cause gas.
You can have normal diet then.
And,1-1.5 litres water pwr day is more than enough.
Stay blessed.
Thankyou!
