Both hs-CRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) are non-specific markers of inflammation. They can rise in:
Recent surgeries or tissue healing (like gallbladder removal)
Menstruation (especially during the first few days)
Mild infections (even unnoticed ones like a sore throat or UTI)
Chronic inflammation (autoimmune diseases, gut issues, etc.)
Next Steps
Not necessarily.
Since:
You're currently menstruating (which can raise both levels), and
You're recently post-surgery (healing still ongoing),
…the rise may be temporary and expected.
Health Tips
1. Repeat hs-CRP & ESR: After 3–4 weeks (not during period)
2. If still high, consider:
CBC
Liver Function Tests (LFT)
Thyroid Profile
Autoimmune screening (ANA, RA factor) – if joint/body aches
Ultrasound abdomen – if any persistent abdominal discomfort

These markers ESR and CRP are non specific, they just indicate that some inflammation or infection is ongoing inside the body that too if it coming persistently high. So get a repeat test done after 4weeks along with complete blood count, liver function test, kidney function test and thyroid function test . Consult if you have some clinical symptoms or problems . As you have undergone cholecystectomy two months before get a CT done after consulting your surgeon.
