Gastritis and its impact on the gut lining are commonly caused by an imbalance in Pitta dosha, leading to inflammation and weakened digestion. Ayurveda provides effective remedies to repair and strengthen the gut lining while addressing the root cause. Ayurvedic Herbs & Formulations for Gut Lining Repair Herbs: Licorice (Yashtimadhu): A soothing herb that protects and heals the gut lining. Take it as a decoction or powder with honey. Amla (Amalaki): Rich in Vitamin C, it reduces acidity and promotes gut healing. Aloe Vera: Helps cool the gut, reduce inflammation, and repair the mucosal lining. Consume fresh aloe vera juice on an empty stomach. Turmeric (Haridra): Reduces inflammation and enhances gut repair when taken with warm milk or water. Medicines & Formulations: Avipattikar Churna: Balances Pitta and reduces acidity and inflammation. Kamadhudha Rasa: A classical formulation for gastritis and hyperacidity, helping heal the stomach lining. Shatavari Kalpa: Nourishes the gut lining and balances Pitta. Kumaryasava: Improves digestion and heals inflammation in the gut. Dietary Recommendations: Follow a Sattvic Diet that avoids spicy, oily, fermented, and processed foods. Include gut-healing foods like rice gruel, ghee (in small amounts), cooked vegetables, and moong dal. Drink herbal teas made with fennel, cumin, and coriander seeds. Avoid excessive tea, coffee, and acidic fruits like citrus. Lifestyle Tips: Eat at regular intervals, avoid skipping meals, and chew food properly. Avoid overeating or lying down immediately after meals. Manage stress with pranayama (such as Sheetali and Nadi Shodhana) and Heartfulness Meditation, as stress can worsen gastritis. Detoxification (Panchakarma): Virechana (purgation therapy) under Ayurvedic supervision can help remove excess Pitta and promote healing.
Next Steps
