What you're experiencing is a common response to restarting Minoxidil, especially after a gap.
Minoxidil (both topical and oral) can initially cause a temporary increase in hair fall, often called âshedding.â This happens because Minoxidil pushes older hairs into the shedding phase to make room for new growth. It usually occurs 2â6 weeks after starting or restarting treatment.
Since you had interruptions in both topical and oral use, your scalp is essentially readjusting to treatment, and this could explain the increased hair fall from June 23 onwards.
This shedding is likely temporary and usually settles in a few weeks. It is not a sign of worsening hair loss, but rather a part of the process for many people.
Next Steps
Continue Minoxidil as prescribed. Be consistent with application for best results. Follow up with your dermatologist if shedding is severe or prolonged beyond 6â8 weeks.
There is initial shedding of hair(telogen stage- the end stage or shedding hair) which sheds early in the first 1 month of starting minoxidil which is completely normal.
In your case of irregular application, minoxidil by itself does not cause hairfall after stopping, it is due to ongoing process in your hair cycle.
There can be an increase in hairfall after starting minoxidil also known as minoxidil shedding which usually occurs on starting minoxidil for a month. Kindly consult for better diagnosis and management.
No need to worry.specific treatment is available.it depends on severity of the disease . Complete medical history is required..
Pls do online consultation with Dermatologist for detailed prescription & guidance.
