Swelling of gums are caused due to bacteria lodged in debris around teeth(calculus). These need to be removed by ultrasonic scaling procedure. And then some medications are needed.

It may be due to eruption of your third molars or due to deep dental decay on the same tooth.t o devise a treatment plan would require radiographs and a clinical examination. Visit a dentist for the same.
