You have to visit a dentist as soon as possible because you have been delaying a problem for a very long time hoping for it to cure on its own which is never going to happen. At the same time it is imperative to let you know that chewing food from one side only is also not recommended because it causes disuse atrophy of the muscles and the bone of the other side which is not in function. Going only by the description that you have mentioned and without a look at the clinical condition of your dentition, the only tentative opinion that can be given is that you require treatment of both the teeth and the gums and that should not be delayed further. Regards.
