It happened due to poor oral hygiene. Scaling is required as the condition will only worsen if not treated on time and can even make the teeth loose. Visit to a dentist as soon as possible and do warm saline rinses.
Next Steps
visit to a dentist.

Hello, receding gums could be because of deposits on teeth surface or food lodged in between teeth. Visit a dentist and get your scaling and polishing done. Brush your teeth twice daily, night brushing is very important. Floss regularly. Rinse after every meal. Visit dentist every 6 months.

Poor gum condition is seen in the pic . This can be easily treated with scaling and root planing. Please check for traumatic bite and crowding of teeth which cud be another factor for chronic gum problems

Hello, Going by your pic,it is clear that you have Severe Gingivitis and Early periodontitis, which could result in underlyieng bone loss and Gum Recession. You need to undergo Deep scaling and polishing first. Then x-rays will reveal the extent of bone loss and the need for periodontal intervention.Regards,Dr Sumanmakam,Dental arts,Jayanagar,B'lore.

Hello sir Greetings of the day. As an initial treatment you need to get scaling done. Since your teeth are crowded that is overlapping each other that is the main cause for the food getting accumulated resulting in gum recession. There are other options such as flap surgery to help with  the height of the gums.
Next Steps
Get your scaling done from a dentist asap and start using a floss which prevent food accumulation.
