Consult with a dentist
Online now
If its a noticeable swelling, its always recommended to get it checked by a dentist who might also take an X-Ray of the involved tooth to check periapical/periodontal changes. Also must to get checked if there is a history of any kind of trauma involved with that area. If for any reason you are unable to get to a dentist immediately, you can try doing warm salt water rinses which might help reduce the swelling/discomfort for the time being if there is no major underlying cause involved.
Next Steps
Get a consultation done with a dentist who might take an X Ray

Greetings patient, Hope this application had a choice of uploading the picture of swelling or clinical area so that we can guide you much precisely. Well as for now it's best for you to know the multiple causes of swelling of gums. 1. Poor Hygiene: usually an accumulation of plaque or dental dirt causes the swelling of gums due to bacterial activity a simple scaling or cleaning will help in subsiding the swelling. Such kind of condition is common in mouth breathers(for front teeth). 2. Localized Infection: if you feel the swelling is localized to a single tooth area then it's more due to some injury due to some trauma either because of hard or hot food. In such cases, the condition is acute or with a sudden onset and severe pain. In this case, do warm saline rinses and use a topical gel for ulcers available in market as over the counter drugs for pain relieving. Visit a dentist for more precise medications. 3. dental decay or trauma: usually even due to chronic decay or dental fractures patient doesn't feel pain in front tooth region since pus accumulation doesn't cause pain and aggravate into a swelling moving through thin bone plates into gums Int trying to scare you but a thorough clinical examination is needed for confirmatory diagnosis best is to visit a dentist asap.
Next Steps
visit a general dentist for diagnosis
Health Tips
use a gel or do warm saline rinses and keep that area clean dont do forceful brushing near the swelling
