Anxiety has two types of symptoms. Physical sensations and negative thoughts (usually negative future outcomes). The physical symptoms are completely harmless. Even the feeling of sore throat could be a result of anxiety. Ask your friend to focus his mind on other things as much as possible. Get involved in different activities. Do not check the news again and again. There is no point. Just be updated about the govt policies. There are millions of other topics to think about. Make a list, pick 10 of them, assign some time for each activity or topic every day. Do not discuss about health or illness related issues. Try focusing on external environment when the physical sensations are too bothersome. Simple exercises can work, like count 5 blue colored objects in your surrounding, count 4 round shapes, etc. If the anxiety keeps getting worse, speak to a professional.

It is not unusual to face anxiety in these difficult times. But if it is severe enough to affect his daily routine, sleep, he is constantly worried about it then he may require treatment for it. Feeling of butterflies in the stomach can be symptoms of panic. Does he get palpitations, difficulty breathing? He can try relaxation by breathing exercises. If it doesnt help he may need professional help.
