There are many, and meditation and mindfulness is at the top. I’ll send you some information below. Take a deep breath now. If you take three, it will calm you down more. Also, walking is very helpful, particularly in nature. You can listen to music, or exercise. Get out of the house, talk to a friend, pet a dog or cat. I’m going to give you ideas from my book From Darkness to Embracing the light free on kindle, see profile above. Dancing, Singing, Chanting and even Drumming. Dr. James Gordon recommends shaking your whole body to fast music. It is hard to be depressed or anxious whenever you do any of these activities. They are energy movers and help to move positive energy in and toxic energy out. Mindfulness. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present and aware of where we are and what we’re doing. Eat slowly and mindfully, enjoy the flowers on a walk or the moon at night. Be mindful of every little thing. Mindfulness meditation can change your brain, which helps with the trauma rewiring you will need after these relationships. The Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping. This practice consists of tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and re-experiencing a wide range of emotion. This is enormously helpful to relieve headaches, stress, insomnia, or anything that ails you. It works. Gratitude. A practice of cultivating a feeling of gratitude daily. I find making a list every night, especially if it was a bad day, forces me to think of what is positive about my life. Gratitude brings more good things into your life, research shows. Breathwork is a method for clearing energy using the breath. Inhale for a count of three and exhale for a count of five and hold your breath three seconds. Do this several times and consciously choose what you want to bring in, such as peace of mind. Just taking a deep breath when you are stressed is a big help. Meditation goes along with this, whatever form you feel comfortable with. This doesn’t have to be formal meditation, but just breathwork whenever and wherever you are. Yoga. This practice teaches you how to relax and release tension, strengthens weak muscles and stretches tight one. Yoga is for self-improvement, transformation, and healing in addition to the body work aspect of the practice. Yoga Nidra. A sleep-based meditation done lying down which is helpful for anxiety, stress, and insomnia. It is said that one 30-minute practice confers the benefits of 2 hours of sleep. This is essential for insomnia, nightmares and the anxiety you feel with the beginning stages of recovery.
