I have completed my full anti rabies vaccine course on 17.10.2025.Today a dog scratch me.what should I do now??

There isn't much need of vaccine as u have taken it recently, just clean the bitten area with running water then clean it with betadine, if the injury is more get it bandaged . It will be healed and take an antibiotic so that no infection could occur.

1. Wash the scratch immediately with plenty of soap and running water for at least 15 minutes.
2. Apply povidone-iodine or any antiseptic solution.
3. As your vaccination was completed very recently (within a year), you don’t need to restart the full vaccine series.
4. In such cases, only two booster doses (on Day 0 and Day 3) are advised — but even that depends on the depth of the wound and dog’s vaccination status.
If the dog is healthy and vaccinated, and the scratch is superficial without bleeding, you may not even need boosters — but this should be confirmed after seeing the wound.

If a re-exposure occurs within 3 months of completing the full course, no further vaccination is required.

Only immunocomproised people need repeat doses.
