Rabies vaccine
In August 2025, I completed my rabies vaccination course at a government hospital.In 2026, I received two additional rabies vaccine doses, on 19 August 2026 and 26 August 2026.Recently, my dog was bitten by a cat on 20 September 2026 at night around 9pm . Within 12 hours of the incident, my dog received the first rabies vaccine dose in 21st around 5pm, and the second dose was given on 24 September 2026.Today,26 September 2026, I noticed a wound on my arm. On the day of the incident, I washed my arm with soap and water I didn't notice any thing .I am now very worried and panicking. I would like to know whether I could be at risk of rabies and whether I need any further vaccination or medical treatment.
Could you please advise me on what I should do?

Because there was a possible wound and contact with a cat, treat this as a potential rabies exposure until assessed. Wash the area thoroughly with soap and running water for 15 minutes, then apply povidone-iodine; do not use irritants or tightly bandage it.
Your previous doses may change the regimen, but do not assume you are protected. The need for boosters or immunoglobulin depends on whether skin was broken, saliva contact and your documented vaccine history.
