Difference In Serum Creatinine Levels
My Serum Creatinine level came 1.10 mg/dl (lab reference range 0.6 - 1.30) from one lab & 1.18 mg/dl (lab reference range upto 1.4) from another lab There is a variation of 0.08 mg/dl between the test results done from two different labs on the same day Need to know whether Serum Creatinine test results depends on the respective lab's references ranges & could vary from lab to lab due to difference in the reference ranges

Dear patient, as far as your creatinine levels are falling under normal range (reference value), there's nothing to be worried about. The creatinine values and the reference values can change from lab to lab.. Just check if your test value is coming within the given reference value of that lab. If it's within that range, that means your kidneys are effectively clearing out the creatinine from your body.

Creatinine levels can vary as per the reference range and even diet. Transient increase in creatinine can occur after consumption of meat. Do you have any health issue? Why did you get creatinine done?

Hi, Your body continuously produces and excretes creatinine at varying rates throughout the day. Based on your food intake and level of activity, the blood report will vary. A variation of less than 0.1 is all right. Even slightly more would be normal depending on how your day was before the test There will always be minimal lab variation. Butter chicken/panner butter masala does not taste the same despite the same basic ingredients in different restaurants right. Similarly, test reports will vary Have a good day

There could be some variation in different lab results. Things are fine as long as all the results are within reference range of that Lab.

As far as you have no significant symptoms the range is just a number. If any type of symptoms occur related to urine then do consult your doctor.

As long as your creatinine levels are within the normal range, it's fine.labs range differs accordingly depending on the reagents, instrument etc.

The slight variation in your serum creatinine levels (1.10 mg/dL and 1.18 mg/dL) is not clinically significant and is quite common. Serum creatinine results can vary slightly between labs due to differences in testing equipment, reagents, and calibration methods. While both values fall within their respective lab reference ranges and are considered normal, it's always best to follow trends over time rather than rely on a single reading. Also, reference ranges may slightly differ between labs, but they do not change the actual value measured in your blood—only how it's interpreted. For consistent monitoring, it’s ideal to use the same lab whenever possible. 📞 For consultation, connect with me on Practo for video consultations. Thank you for sharing your concern regarding the variation in your serum creatinine levels. The difference of **0.08 mg/dl** between the two lab results is minimal and falls well within the acceptable range of variability. Serum creatinine levels can slightly differ between labs due to variations in calibration methods, equipment, and reference ranges. However, your results from both labs are within normal limits for your age and gender, indicating no immediate cause for concern.  That said, creatinine levels are an important marker of kidney function. If you have a history of kidney issues, hypertension, diabetes, or other related conditions, it would be advisable to monitor these levels periodically under medical supervision.  For a comprehensive evaluation and personalized advice, I recommend scheduling a consultation with me. You can reach me on WhatsApp at **eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two** to discuss further or book an appointment.
