Composite filling layering over GIC
My dentist used GIC filling for my three molar cavities as they were very deep. I need to get composite filling layered over them. Is there any time limit for this procedure? I was due to go in one month but I couldn't go and it's been almost four months now. I'm scared to go now as it is late. Can I go to another dentist for the procedure ?

Hie.. dentist has advised you to visit after a month .. coz there would have been infected varied then I would have created you pain for now,. But since it has worked and your caries has been arrested for now plus your dentist has already put the layer of composite over it.. then it’s totally perfect.. you can just keep that tooth being regularly checked via radiograph.. so that it won’t recur..

Consult or visit

Consult with a dentist

Hi, Thank you for the query. The usual deep caries management protocol is to give a GIC filling, allow the flouride releasing properties to arrest further spread of decay and then replace it with composite restoration. If anything you are on track to get this replaced with a composite restoration. There is absolutely no reason for fear. This is the usual protocol. Alternatively, visit Oraliah Dental Care, Sahakar Nagar, for a thorough check and management of deep caries/decay
Next Steps
Please visit your dentist for an assessment. If the situation has improved, then you can go ahead with the composite restoration.

Hi.. there is nothing to be scared off. Usually if you don’t experience any pain or sensitivity in the teeth, then the dentist proceeds with the composite filling.
Next Steps
Consult your dentist and get an X-ray done. Delaying it requires more extensive treatment or possibly removal of the teeth.

Welcome to practo.. I advice you to take an intraoral periapical radiographs before continuing with the procedure.. Check if there is any dental caries developed or fracture or sensitivity or pain.. Sometimes these may develope Treatment varies from refilling gic or composite to root canal treatment.. You can visit the same dentist.. Sometimes the restoration will be normal, so that you can continue with the procedure.. There is nothing to scare about it.. Consult me for further details. Thank you..

hallo....doing a GIC filling for deep cavities is recommended if you are without any symptoms of pain or sensitivity....it is always better to take an intraoral periapical radiograph to go ahead with composite layering...you don't have to be scared for it ..as dentist usually give you a time slot for as GIC can slowly wear off as time passes and as well they are your molar teeth which you use for chewing and grinding your food ...fillings have to be strong enough for your comfortable use...so you can visit the same dentist and go ahead with the treatment after taking an IOPA
Next Steps
visit your dentist and check your teeth that there is no further damage
Health Tips
practice a good brushing tecnique...and have a habit to check all your teeth once in 6 months that if you have an initial caries can be detected and filled at the earliest...you dont have to worry later..
