CML cbc.
My father got diagnosed with cml cp recently and started dasatinib but due to lower blood counts even on lower dose doctor switched to imatinib. After taking imatinib for 14 days again platelets fall down to 68k and anc also gets lower. Doctor say not to worry since mpv is more. And prescribe next cbc after two months. I am worried if platelets continue to fall and anc gets further lowered if I don't repeat the test for 2 months

You should consult the treating doctor again and get your queries sorted out. I am sure he will be able to guide you in a better way. In case you have doubt, you can visit another oncologist but you should have trust on the treating doctor or take another proper consultation.

It is understandable to be concerned about the ongoing reduction in platelet and ANC (absolute neutrophil count) levels. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and its treatments can sometimes result in blood count fluctuations, especially with medications like dasatinib and imatinib, which can affect bone marrow function. While your doctor has reassured you about the MPV (mean platelet volume), which reflects the size of platelets, it's crucial to closely monitor blood counts. Considering your concerns, it might be worth discussing the possibility of more frequent monitoring or conducting additional tests such as a bone marrow examination to better understand the impact of treatment on your father’s blood counts. If the platelets continue to drop or other blood counts are affected, it may require adjustments in therapy or supportive treatments. I recommend following up with a hematologist to ensure that all factors are being considered. If you'd like, feel free to connect with me directly for a more detailed evaluation and treatment plan. You can also reach out to me via WhatsApp by dialing eight-zero-zero-nine-eight-two-one-double three-two. Stay in touch for further advice.
