I have an already existing disc bulge at L5-S1. Sometimes i also do have some stiffness and little pain symptoms in my neck as well. Recent MRI also indicated some degenerative changes in cervical region as well but no compression of neural space was noted. For these issues, i have been through a lot of renowned specialists and most of them suggested preventive and management approach to balance the pain.
Query: Is Bird-Dog exercise safe with pre existing neck issues?
I am doing Bird-Dog exercise to maintain my core stability to reduce the flare up episodes of my lower back.
Thank you

U r just 27yrs old ...so dnt focus only on MRI report...work on your muscles to delay these changes in your spine.. because if your core muscles are strong ur condition ll b maintained.. now if u asking about that ex...so whenever u are starting the ex.. always take opinion of Physical Therapist...who ll advise the ex acc to ur current posture and muscle grade...at present how z ur posture throughout a day and muscle power at present? These factors determines the type n level of exercise because MRI show only about the condition of disc and spine ...it doesn't show ur current muscle power and posture during activity. So always consult Physical therapist before starting any ex for your condition.. bird dog ex definitely work on dynamic stability of core but at present what is the status of your core muscles and posture to do that ex that is important.
If you are comfortable and confident that you can do bird dog pose exercise without supervision of an expert, you can do it.
I suggest you for to do this movement first a week in supervision of an expert therapist then can do easily at home on your own.
