Chances of getting cancer through genes
Hi, my mother had breast cancer stage last, 3 years back and she died of it. She was suffering from cancer for 2 years. So i wanted to know is there any possibility of getting the same disease ? We are two sisters 24, 25 of age respectively. If no then thankyou so much If yes could anyone please tell me in detail how and when are the chances And how we can get rid of this Any precautions/ vaccinations etc Please it would be appreciated

Only 1/10th of breast cancers maybe familial. So don't worry, it may not necessarily be passed on through genes, but definitely you would be at a higher risk than an individual with no family history of breast cancer. Knowledge and screening are your best safeguards against the disease

What was your mothers age during diagnosis... Breast cancer is hereditary in roughly 10 percent of cases.. You are at risk more than a regular patient as your first degree relative has cancwr.. Meet a oncologist in person and discuss reg BRCA gene testing..
Next Steps
mammogram every year after 40 yrs.. sonomammogram evwry year after 30 yrs to 40 yrs
