Calcium supplements
I am taking two tablets of Shelcal HD post my delivery as I am breastfeeding. It has been 1 yr 1 month since I have been taking this supplement. How long do I need to take it. I learnt that calcium carbonate is not easily absorbed so please suggest a calcium chloride or citrate if possible. I learnt that chloride is more bio-available. I am not taking any magnesium supplement. If it is required please suggest a magnesium chloride or citrate supplement.

You need to take calcium supplement for 6 months till the time you are exclusive breastfeeding. ShelCal HD has vit D added so absorption is better and it's recommended post meal to have acidic medium. Yes citrate malate is better in absorption and can be taken any time. Preferably after food and not with iron tab. Consult me on Practo online consultation.
