A localized burning sensation in the thigh that intensifies at night strongly points toward nerve irritation or compression rather than a typical muscle strain. The temporary relief provided by Gabapax ointment (which contains gabapentin) further supports a neuropathic (nerve-related) origin, as it temporarily desensitizes local nerve endings but does not resolve the underlying compression.
Next Steps
Since symptoms worsen at night, try sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees, or on your unaffected side with a pillow between your knees to reduce tension on the lower back and thigh nerves. Limit Prolonged Sitting: Take frequent breaks to stand and walk gently if your daily routine involves long periods of sitting.
Health Tips
Schedule an evaluation with an Orthopedist, Neurologist, or Physical Medicine specialist to pinpoint the exact source of nerve irritation through a clinical examination.

The burning sensation in the left thigh may be due to nerve irritation or compression, such as lumbar spine-related nerve involvement, meralgia paresthetica (compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve), neuropathy, or less commonly vascular or muscular causes. Since the symptoms have been present for several weeks and are worsening at night, a detailed clinical evaluation is needed. Temporary relief with the ointment suggests symptomatic relief but does not identify the underlying cause. Assessment of the exact location of burning, associated numbness, tingling, back pain, weakness, diabetes status, and daily activities would help narrow the diagnosis.
Next Steps
Consult an Orthopaedic, Neurologist, or Physical Medicine specialist for evaluation. Check for associated symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, low back pain, or difficulty walking. If diabetic, ensure blood sugar levels are well controlled. Avoid prolonged standing, tight clothing around the waist, and repetitive activities that worsen symptoms. Your doctor may recommend neurological examination, blood tests, or imaging of the lumbar spine if indicated.
Health Tips
Do not self-medicate with pain-relieving ointments alone, as they may only provide temporary relief. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop leg weakness, loss of bladder/bowel control, severe swelling, redness, or sudden worsening pain. Gentle stretching and maintaining proper posture may help if the cause is related to nerve irritation or spinal issues.

Burning sensation which you experience in the front side of the thigh that often worsens at night might be due to any nerve involvement or else there can be compression of the nerve. The ointment which you have applied will give only temporary relief but for a permanent solution you have to avoid long time sitting. Monitor for tingling and numbness in your leg and do gentle walking.
Next Steps
A thorough and detailed Physiotherpy assessment is recommended to identify the cause or origin of your burning sensation.
Health Tips
By consulting a physiotherapist a proper treatment plan will reduce your symptoms.

A burning sensation in the outer/front thigh that worsens at night is often related to nerve irritation, lower back involvement, or compression of a thigh nerve, rather than a muscle problem. The ointment likely gives temporary relief by reducing local sensitivity, but it does not address the root cause. ✔️ Avoid prolonged sitting and tight clothing around the waist ✔️ Gentle walking and lower back mobility exercises may help ✔️ Monitor for numbness, tingling, or weakness in the leg
Next Steps
Since the symptoms have been persistent for weeks, I would recommend a detailed assessment to identify whether the source is the spine, nerve, or local thigh tissues.
Health Tips
physiotherapy evaluation can help pinpoint the cause and provide targeted treatment instead of temporary symptom relief.

A "burning" sensation that worsens at night is a classic sign of nerve pain. The fact that Gabapax (a nerve-calming medication) gives you temporary relief strongly confirms that a nerve is irritated or compressed. The two most common culprits are: 1. Meralgia Paresthetica: A pinched nerve at the surface of your outer thigh, often triggered by tight clothing or prolonged sitting. 2. Sciatica (Lumbar Radiculopathy): A pinched nerve in your lower back that sends burning pain down into your leg.
Next Steps
Ointments only temporarily mask nerve pain. To resolve it completely, you need to identify and relieve the pressure on the nerve: 1.See a Doctor: Book an appointment with an orthopedic or a physiotherapist. They can physically examine your back and leg, and may order imaging (like an MRI) to locate the exact pinch point. 2.Wear Loose Clothing: Immediately stop wearing tight belts, tight waistbands, or keeping heavy items in your pockets to avoid further compressing the nerves around your hips. 3.Adjust Your Sleep Position: To take pressure off your lower spine and pelvis at night, sleep with a pillow between your knees (if on your side) or under your knees (if on your back).
