Body pain related
Hello Doctor, I am Moumi Pal, 37 years old. For the past few days, I have been experiencing significant body pain—specifically in my lower back (extending toward the gluteal region) and down the back of my right leg. This pain has intensified over the last two days since I started going for morning walks. I had a full-body checkup in February 2026, which revealed low levels of Vitamin D (13) and Vitamin B12 (365). I consulted a homeopath, and while I was taking the prescribed medication, the pain disappeared completely; however, as soon as I stopped the medication, the pain returned just as it was before. Last month, I took a supplement containing calcium, magnesium, zinc, Vitamin D, and Vitamin B12, which resolved the body pain, but it caused severe acidity, so I had to stop taking it. Could you please explain why I am experiencing this pain? I would appreciate your suggestions and any recommendations for medication. Thank you! 😊

Hello Moumi, Your symptoms (lower back pain extending down the right leg, intensified by walking) strongly point toward sciatica, alongside your history of low Vitamin D and digestive sensitivity to supplements. Homoeopathy can treat this deeply and naturally without causing the severe acidity you experienced with conventional tablets. Quick Lifestyle Tips: Temporarily pause high-impact morning walks, avoid heavy lifting, and practice gentle spine stretches.

Good evening practo user The pain described here is related to spinal disc compression of the nerves leading to sciatica and lower backache. Majorly occurs if you had any history of sudden jerk, trauma, accident, injury or a fall or even overexertion and overwork are some major reasons behind this type of pain. A case history discussion is needed to address your health concerns from the rootcause. Also there are some Homeopathic supplements for low Vitamin D and Vitamin B12. Kindly consult me online on 787781821five.

Hello Moumi, Thank you for explaining your symptoms in detail. Based on your description, one possibility is sciatica (irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve). The pain extending from your lower back towards the gluteal region and travelling down the back of your right leg is suggestive of possible lumbar nerve irritation. This can sometimes occur due to a disc-related problem, muscular tightness or other changes in the lower back. Your Vitamin D level of 13 is low and may contribute to muscle aches and generalised body pain. Your Vitamin B12 level of 365 should also be interpreted according to your laboratory's reference range and clinical symptoms. The fact that your pain improved while taking medication and returned after stopping it does not necessarily mean the underlying cause has resolved. My suggestions: Avoid brisk walking, long walks and activities that aggravate the pain for now. Gentle movement within your comfort level is advisable. Avoid prolonged sitting, bending forward and lifting heavy weights. Apply a warm compress to your lower back for 15–20 minutes. Your Vitamin D deficiency needs appropriate correction under medical supervision. Since the pain is radiating down one leg, I would recommend a clinical examination of your lower back, muscle strength, reflexes and nerve function before deciding on further treatment. I would also like to understand a few things: Does the pain extend below your right knee, towards the calf or foot? Do you experience tingling, numbness or burning sensations in your right leg? Does the pain increase while sitting, bending forward or walking? Do you have any weakness in your right leg? Have you experienced any difficulty controlling your urine or stools? Please seek urgent medical attention if you develop new bladder or bowel control problems, numbness around the groin, or progressive leg weakness. Moumi, the important thing is to identify the underlying cause rather than just temporarily suppressing the pain. With a proper assessment, we can plan the appropriate treatment for you. Warm regards, Dr. Jyoti Kadkol

Hello, this is Dr. Palle Sujana, Homoeopathic Physician. I understand how frustrating it can be when your lower-back and gluteal pain improves with medication but returns after stopping it. Your history of vitamin D and B12 deficiencies is important, but we should also explore other possible contributing factors, including muscular strain, posture-related problems and nerve irritation. In homoeopathy, every case is approached individually. I would like to understand the exact nature of your pain, its location and extension, what aggravates or relieves it, your associated symptoms, and your overall health history before considering an individualized treatment approach. My aim is to understand your case thoroughly and help you identify the appropriate way forward. Please share your previous investigation reports, vitamin levels and details of the medication you took, along with your current symptoms, so that I can guide you more specifically.

Hello, thank you for writing in, and for giving such a clear timeline. It makes it much easier to understand what may be going on. Pain in the lower back that travels through the buttock and down the back of one leg is a typical pattern of sciatic nerve irritation. It usually comes from stiff or strained muscles and joints in the lower back, or from a mildly irritated disc pressing on a nerve. It getting worse after you started morning walks fits this, since a body that isn't used to walking can strain tight back and hip muscles at first. Low vitamin D can make muscles and bones more sensitive and slower to recover. That may be why the pain eased when your levels were supported and returned when you stopped. So the deficiency is probably a contributing factor, but it doesn't seem to be the whole story. The pattern of your pain matters here, and that's what I'd love to understand better.
Next Steps
A video consult would let me understand your pain in detail: whether it's worse sitting, bending or lying down, whether there's any tingling or numbness, and how your sitting hours, posture and sleep look. I'd also suggest repeating your vitamin D and B12 levels, since your last report was in February, and checking calcium. Because your last supplement caused acidity, we can look at gentler ways to correct the deficiency through food, sunlight and timing, and choose the best approach for you. An in-person check by an orthopedic or physiotherapy specialist is worth considering if the pain continues for more than 2 weeks. Please get checked promptly if you notice weakness in the leg or foot, numbness around the groin or inner thighs, difficulty passing urine or stool, or pain that is severe and keeps worsening.
Health Tips
- Keep walking, but start slowly with 10 to 15 minutes on flat ground, with supportive footwear, and build up gradually - Warm up for a few minutes before walking, and do gentle stretches for the hamstrings, hips and lower back afterwards - Apply a warm compress to the lower back for 15 minutes, once or twice a day - Avoid sitting for long hours, and get up to move every 30 to 40 minutes - Sleep on a firm mattress, and try a pillow between your knees if you sleep on your side - Avoid heavy lifting and sudden bending or twisting for now - Get 15 to 20 minutes of morning sunlight on your arms and legs a few days a week - Eat vitamin D, B12 and calcium-rich foods: eggs, curd, paneer, milk, ragi, sesame and leafy greens, and eat them with meals to avoid acidity - Keep dinner light, and avoid tea, coffee and spicy food, which worsen acidity If you're worried, do book a consult and we can look at it together. Take care.

It seems to be sciatica. It is a neuromuscular concern. It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated and can affect your personal life. It needs to be treated in a holistic approach for complete recovery. Just taking some supplements and homeopathic medicine will not be helpful for complete recovery. It needs to be treated by an expert. It can be well treated with homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects but you need an expert who is specialised in nerve and muscle problems.
Next Steps
I have been working as a Homeopathic doctor for the last 17 years of experience. We have been working on such cases with good results. You can contact me through an online appointment for further assistance.

Hello, Pain in the lumbar region that radiates towards the legs can be due to sciatica. Taking medicine for pain can subside it but if it's sciatica it can recur. If the pain is recurring we need to analyse it properly and treat accordingly. A proper Constitutional Homoeopathy medicine can help you resolve this completely and permanently along with proper Stretching exercises can help you. Low back pain spreading down the back of one leg often points to a pinched nerve in your lower spine, known as sciatica. Your low Vitamin D and borderline B12 can make nerve and muscle pain worse and harder to shake off. The pattern you describe, improving with treatment and returning once you stop, fits a deficiency that needs properly correcting, not a one-time dose.
Next Steps
See a physician for a fresh Vitamin D and B12 check, since your last one is from February, and ask about a supplement regimen gentler on your stomach. If the leg pain continues, a spine X-ray or MRI can check for a disc problem.
Health Tips
Avoid restarting any supplement combination on your own after it caused acidity; a doctor can suggest one gentler on your stomach.
