Hello There is no permanent solution for bad breath(halitosis) just like there is no permanent solution for bad body odour. Essentially both are hygiene issues (unless there is some deeper pathological problem). Maintaining oral hygiene and tongue cleaning can to a large extent take care of halitosis. As far as SMF is concerned, the treatment depends on the grade of the disease and the extent. Initial stage is amenable to drugs and injections, however higher grade disease is refractory to conventional treatments. You must visit your oral surgeon or Oral medicine specialist to get a better update , as this requires a physical assessment

Halitosis or bad breath needs to ruled out by finding out the cause for it. If it's because of tooth decay, gum disease etc a dentist can take care of these issues. If it's systemic like gastritis, bowel diseases, sore throat etc they need to be treated. Also along with flossing and brushing regular cleaning of the tongue is required to prevent bad breath. A coating forms on the tongue if not cleaned which is nothing but colonies of bacteria. Oral submucous fibrosis on the other hand is tightening of the fibres of your cheek forming bands leading to tightness and restricted mouth opening. If any habit is present please quit the habit and take treatment for the same. A dentist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon or an oral medicine and radiologist can help in the treatment of these conditions.

Two different problems. Different solutions. Halitosis is multi factorial need clinical examination by a oral medicine specialist to rule out dental, periodontal and gastric issues. For oral fibrosis need clinical evaluation and stoppage of habit plus long term follow up an this can turn in to sinister lesion.
