BACK PAIN GOING DOWN TO LEG
Hi doctor, my Uncle has been suffering from back pain for a long time . Recently after a doctor's advice he went for MRI of Lumbo Sacral Spine. The report impression is that the MRI of L-S spine (P+C) suggests degenerative disc disease affecting 13-14 to L5-S1 levels with a pressure effect over bilateral exiting nerve roots. Could you please tell me what the impression actually means ? Can that be cured via medicine or surgery is needed only ? I am very tensed please tell me if that is something serious!!

Need to see the MRI films before making a proper diagnosis and relevant treatment. Degenerative means age related changes and these changes are putting pressure over the exiting nerves….and these changes can be due variety of reasons (so films) And yes if such conditions present for longer duration may affect day to day life…..and the symptomatic treatment can be started before even thinking about surgical treatment See a spine surgeon nearby
